A Family Christmas

I have photographed my family celebrations a few times so when asked about photographing a Christmas for another family I couldn’t have been more excited. There’s no better time than when the house is full and the whole family is together.

I was honored to spend the day with this beautiful family and capture this sweet space that will always hold memories of Christmas.

Enjoy!

Curran & Skye – Winter Proposal

I am always honored to photograph life’s happenings and how exciting and humbling it was to document Curran’s proposal to Skye. I have photographed with Skye before back during her senior year, and now years later, on the spot where they shared their first kiss on a small town road, I’m hiding behind my car waiting for this beautiful moment unfold so excited for everything to come.

What an amazing day it was. We photographed in the cold Minnesota weather, but I’m pretty sure happiness must be a heater all on it’s own because they made it through.

Congratulations to the beautiful couple, and without further ado Curran and Skye’s proposal! Enjoy!

Life lessons – Grandma edition

Hello Friend!
Today’s blog starts with a quick story. My grandma is incredible with plants like mastery level plant lady. She keeps everything alive and saves every sprout for it to start growing in a cup. I’m full of questions when I visit because I love flowers and hope to pick up on some of her knowledge on keeping my poor plants alive.

The gift is all her own, but what I did take away is if you truly care about something it requires time, patience, and energy to nurture it and someday if you are lucky it becomes instinct.  My grandma can’t simply walk by a plant or garden she will literally start weeding it, even if it’s not her own. My grandma’s passion for gardening is something deep and now engrained that extends beyond a hobby.

For me it’s not a list of goals that I wish to obtain for this next year, but I wish to take that passion that my grandma subconsciously shows and place that in things that matter in my life. To not simply walk by those gardens filled with weeds but to patiently care for them and nurture them daily.
Wishing you a blessed Christmas season and happy New Year!

Michael’s Senior Session

I remember family history not by names or dates but by faces, personalities, and stories. I guess that’s how my brain works. So when asked to create for a senior at their grandparent’s farm with both his grandpas’ tractors I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate generations that this session represents.

So without further ado, Michael’s senior session! Enjoy!

My Fall Inspiration

I think one of the reasons I love Pinterest so much is that it acts like a giant vision/mood board. So I decided to create my own collection focused around my favorite things this season. From delicious apple pie to puffy kitty stretches these are a few of my favorite things.

  • Homemade Apple pie: Still perfecting the recipe but always delicious. So if you have a great one please let me know! Love expanding our family’s recipes.
  • Orange and Ginger: I found this delicious smell at bath and body works and it’s just amazing.
  • The perfect inspiration: Taking time every day to find the best encouragement there is from God’s word is the best inspiration that you can ever ask for. Reminds me that God created each of us for individual purposes not to duplicate the purpose of others.
  • Yellow: Lately I am a little obsessed with the color yellow. It’s so fun and joyful and not the mustard yellow or florescent but the pretty yellow.
  • Indoor garden: No weeds! A fun Christmas gift finally put into use called grow your own pizza as you grow all the ingredients. Hope it works! I love me so pizza.
  • A warm welcome: Not only do I love having friends and family over but we also include our very own welcoming party to any visitors or UPS deliveries that come. The party consists of a hoard of 6 friendly puff balls and they are the sweetest little kitties.
  • Harvest: A beautiful reminder of thankfulness for home, food, clothing, and the many individuals we are blessed to have in our lives along with a cozy barrier around our home.

What are your go to’s this season? Would love to hear all about them!

Wishing you a blessed fall!
-Sophia
